The main aim of TDE Promotions is to present cutting edge, experimental music in good venues and to develop awareness of the exciting nature of this music.

TDE Promotions works in collaboration with Fizzle, the organisation run by Andrew Woodhead with gigs at The Lamp Tavern.  The Fizzle programme presents both young and established improvisers in the intimate atmosphere of the room at The Lamp Tavern.  TDE Promotions aims to add to that programme by presenting more high profile artists from UK, Europe and USA.

The programme thus aims to present artists and bands that are unlikely to appear in the programmes of Jazzlines, Birmingham Jazz and The Spotted Dog and would not otherwise play in Birmingham.  TDE Promotions often works in collaboration with Jazzlines.

The main venue used by TDE Promotions is the Hexagon Theatre at mac, a room that works really well for improvised music.  It has also used The Lab in the new Birmingham Conservatoire and the Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath.

It is noticeable that the Fizzle/TDE Promotions attracts a good, loyal and knowledgeable audience with a good age range.

TDE Promotions has presented Paul Dunmall in his quintet with Hamid Drake, Evan Parker in the trio Sounding Tears with Mat Maneri and Lucian Ban, the double bill of Anton Hunter’s Article XI and Cath Roberts’ Favourite Animals, Ken Vandermark with Nate Woolley, Lucia Cadotsch’s Speak Low, Petter Eldh’s Amok Amor, The Thing  and John Butcher/Okkyung Lee/Mark Sanders.
